Until the Soul Sings: A Weekend with the Franciscans at the St. Francis Centre

Weekend with the Franciscans at the St. Francis Centre

This past weekend, I had the incredible honour of providing music ministry for “Until The Soul Sings” Retreat at the Saint Francis Centre in Caledon Ontario. It was a deeply moving experience — one where music became more than just sound. It became prayer, presence, and communion.

From the moment I arrived, there was a tangible peace in the air. The retreat grounds were serene and inviting, but what truly made it special were the people — warm, open, and deeply grounded in faith. To be among such a loving community was both humbling and uplifting.

The talks throughout the retreat were especially powerful. Father Pierre and Brother Daniel shared messages that were not only insightful, but profoundly moving. Their words reached far beyond the intellect — they settled into the heart. There were moments I found myself quietly holding my instrument, still resonating with what had just been said, before letting it flow back out in song.

It was an absolute honour to be part of such a grace-filled weekend. The presence of Father Pierre and Brother Daniel, the openness of the group, and the sacred rhythm of the retreat created something I will carry with me for a long time.

I left with a heart full of peace and humility. I hope that this is just the beginning of many more opportunities to serve in this way. Until then, I will continue to sing, to pray, and to remain open to wherever the Spirit leads… until the soul sings again.
